Task Summary:
Active for All run weekly activities across Plymouth for adults with disabilities and long-term health conditions. As part of our timetable, we deliver Boccia twice a week at the Plymouth Life Centre (Monday 11am – 12pm, Wednesday 10.30am – 11.30am). Boccia is a Paralympic sport in the same family as bowls. Boccia is a target ball sport which tests both muscle control and accuracy. From a seated position, players propel balls to land as close as possible to a white marker ball, known as the Jack. Balls can be rolled down a ramp, thrown or kicked. If a player is unable to release the ball with their hands, they can use assistive devices, such as a head pointer.
As an Active for All Boccia volunteer, you will help other Active for All staff and volunteers to deliver boccia sessions and support our service users to join in, whilst getting the opportunity to join in yourself! Your role may also include collecting subs from players, writing out receipts and taking a register.
