Active for All

Active for All is a service which supports and promotes physical activity in adults with mental health problems and/or learning disabilities.

The aim of Active for All is to improve health and well-being by helping people find something active they can do regularly and enjoy.

We offer a number of services to support this including;

  • Regular activities delivered in the local community, which include; Boccia, football and walking (regular community activities).
  • Courses of taster sessions to encourage people to try different activities to assist with finding something they enjoy (taster session).
  • A buddying service which provides support for the first few weeks at a new activity or sports club (buddying).

“A young man with a learning disability began attending the Active for Life basketball sessions last year. His aim was to lose some weight, so he wanted to try out a variety of activities which would help him achieve this. Since starting with the basketball, he has came to our walking group, our circuits sessions and then started to do yoga and swimming at the Life Centre! He now has a full week of sessions he enjoys and a result of this increased activity has lost a large amount of weight and appears much more confident in sessions”.
