Low Vision Service

We have a Low Vision Advisor based in the Royal Eye Infirmary (REI) at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth. If you have been diagnosed with a sight impairment and/or low vision then support is available to help you:

  • Negotiate the Low Vision registration process that may result in you being registered as Sight Impaired (SI) or Severely Sight Impaired (SSI)
  • Come to terms with your condition
  • Find out where to get the appropriate help and support
  • Make best use of your prescribed low vision aids (lighting, magnifiers etc).

Julie Lewis, our Low Vision Advisor.

Julie  also works with Plymouth City Council (PCC) and community agencies in providing information, advice and support to people diagnosed with sight impairment.
