Help for Hearing Aid Users

We can give general advice and information on matters related to hearing loss.

We are also able to offer the following services to people who have had a hearing aid(s) issued by Derriford Hospital or by those private hearing aid providers who are contracted to provide NHS services in Plymouth

  • Dispensing of hearing aid batteries
  • Re- tubing of hearing aids – Note: the tube which links your hearing aid to the ear mould which goes in your ear should be replaced at least once every six months to keep it in good working condition
  • General support and advice on using and maintaining your hearing aid.

We work closely with Derriford Hospital's Audiology Department via our 'Hearing Support Visitor' scheme, which provides:

  • Regular visits to residents with hearing aids in residential and nursing homes throughout Plymouth. Note: If you are a residential or nursing home manager who is interested in joining this scheme please contact us
  • Home visits to clients in Plymouth who have been given NHS hearing aids for the first time by the Audiology Department at Derriford Hospital and who need help to make best use of their prescription
  • Hearing aid clinics in the community and in sheltered accommodation.
