Veterans and Family Hub Volunteer

Role Summary

The Veterans hub is run by veterans and their families for veterans and their families and works with a range of organisations in the city to shape better pathways and provides: - Social activity - Peer support and mentoring - Information, advice, and guidance for the following: Employment, Housing Support, Mental Wellbeing, Unpaid Carers Support and Welfare Benefits The hub works with Veterans to be adaptable service ensuring we are reactive to changes that face the Armed Forces community.

Main Tasks

• Support with client face to face, by email or on the telephone to support with enquiries around variety of issues.
• Work closely with Veterans Project Workers to support with client issues, obtaining next steps to be able to work with a client to enable them to choose from the outcomes available.
• Work on Charity log to complete clear and concise notes.
• Report any concerns to the line manager.
• Support with other general administration tasks, such as outgoing calls, photocopying, updating client records as directed by line management.

• Understanding of the Armed Forces community.
• Ability to support individuals
• Ability to promote change and demonstrate professional behaviours
• Communication and inter-personal skills, with the ability to empathise with the needs of people using our services
• Ability to deal appropriately with confidential matters
• Good IT skills
• A positive, energetic and solution focused approach
• Ability to work in stressful situations – although supported by Drop in coordinator.

Additional/Specific Suitability:

DBS Check Required, ILP will cover the cost of the DBS check
